Medicare Basics
There are basically 3 scenarios once you become eligible for Medicare. Are you ready for the changes coming your way?
How to Apply for Medicare
Where you start with Medicare determines what steps you would need to take to get your Medicare coverage started.
- If you’re pulling Social Security either by way of disability or traditional SS payments more than 4 months before your 65th birthday, you should get your Medicare card automatically in the mail. The card will show up between 3-6 months before your birth month.
Medicare and Employer plans
When you’re eligible for both Medicare and your employer-sponsored plan, there are many factors to consider when deciding what to do. Some of these factors include the cost of your employer coverage, the type of coverage you have, and whether or not it is “creditable” for drug coverage.
